Good News

Visiting Richard this morning in his new ward* at East Surrey Hospital it seems he's almost ready to head home, though we may decide on an intermediate convalescent stage depending on availability.   He's full of cheer and essentially back to where he was at his birthday party last month.  He's bright and engaged and very cheerful, which is wonderful to see.

Thanks to everyone for thrir interest and kind words.   Further update later this week.

Several pieces of good news with Richard!  He's much better and happier both physically and spiritually, he's back to his 90th birthday party level of engagement and contentment.  He's enjoying pears, his favourite cheddar and chilli nibbles, plus probiotic yogurt to which he's become very partial over the past few months!   His physiotherapy is coming along well, he can now stretch his legs properly and is much more comfortable.  He is almost ready for release from hospital subject to the further reduction in some of his blood metrics, though there was no concern expressed by the consultant this morning. Our plan now is that he first stay for a few days locally in a place that can give him the enhanced medical support he still needs, and once that is done he'll be coming home. More updates in the next few days.

Richard

I was with Richard on Sunday reading him Danish fairy tales and holding his hand and he slipped away at 10pm,  26th November. He was comfortable and without pain. A life well lived. Richard Ambrose John Millard - 28th September 1933 - 26th November 2023
